Chang In (James) Moon

Biomedical Data Manager · Sage Bionetworks · Houston, TX

I'm a biomedical data scientist with a PhD in Quantitative & Computational Biosciences. My work sits at the intersection of machine learning and cancer biology - building models and data systems for proteogenomics, drug-response prediction, and clinical-trial omics.

At Sage Bionetworks, I manage 40+ database services, monitor usage in Snowflake, and build AI-powered agents that automate data-annotation workflows. Previously I completed my PhD at Baylor College of Medicine (mentored by Bing Zhang), interned in computational biology at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, and earned an MS in Biostatistics at Washington University in St. Louis.

Education

  • PhD, Quantitative & Computational Biosciences - Baylor College of Medicine (2020-2024)
  • MS, Biostatistics - Washington University in St. Louis (2018-2019)
  • BS, Genetics - Purdue University (2014-2018)

Research focus

  • Machine learning for tabular and multi-omics data
  • Proteogenomics of breast cancer and soft-tissue sarcoma (MPNST)
  • Drug-response and drug-synergy prediction
  • Databases and reproducible pipelines for translational oncology
